Blat El Atiq: Handmade Terrazzo Tiles From Lebanon

We honor the historic terrazzo tile craft of maaser ElChouf. using heritage methods

Honoring Lebanese Tile-Making. Crafting the Future of Terrazzo.

At Blat El Atiq, we preserve the art of traditional tile manufacturing in the heart of Maaser El Chouf, a historic village in Mount Lebanon. Our work is rooted in centuries of craftsmanship, passed down through generations of Lebanese artisans.

We specialize in handmade cement tiles for floors, walls, and custom mosaic art. Each tile is made using natural mineral pigments, cement, handcrafted copper molds, and pressed with a hydraulic system, resulting in 25mm-thick terrazzo tiles that combine durability, beauty, and function.

Our Mission

At Blat El Atiq, our mission is to preserve Lebanon’s rich terrazzo tile-making heritage by keeping traditional techniques alive in every tile we produce. We honor the artisanal process passed down through generations in Maaser El Chouf while constantly refining it to meet the needs of today’s designers, architects, and homeowners.

By combining craftsmanship with sustainable practices and high production standards, we aim to offer a meaningful alternative to mass-produced tiles. Our work bridges the past and present, creating timeless terrazzo pieces that bring authenticity and character to spaces around the world.

Our Process

At Blat El Atiq, we follow a meticulous, fully manual process to ensure the authenticity and quality of every tile. Handcrafted one at a time using natural mineral pigments and cement, carefully measured for consistency. Designs are shaped with handmade copper molds, then compressed using a hydraulic press to produce durable, 25mm-thick tiles. After pressing, tiles are dried and polished to a smooth, high-quality finish. This traditional method allows us to create custom terrazzo mosaics, artistic portraits, and durable surfaces that stand the test of time, ideal for both flooring and wall applications.
